VI PUBLIC LIBRARIES RECEIVE PRESTIGIOUS FEDERAL COMPETITIVE GRANT!
                            
The Department of Planning and Natural Resources is pleased to announce that the Division of Libraries, Archives and Museums has been selected to receive a prestigious competitive grant of $30,000 in the 2011 Library Services Grant for the Pacific Territories, Freely Associated States, and the Virgin Islands

"With tough economic times and limited budgets, libraries need to find more ways to service the community, this grant will assist us providing great access to a vast array of literary resources for scholarly and educational research, provide learning tools for the youth and encourage literacy in our children through story time centers in each public library", said Ingrid Bough, Territorial Director of Libraries, Archives and Museums.  READ MORE...

TumbleBookLibrary is an online collection of TumbleBooks – animated, talking picture books which teach kids the joy of reading in a format they'll love. St. Croix Population Database donated to the library!
Complete set range dates: 1734 -1917
                                  
The St. Croix African Roots Project (SCARP) launched its new ST. CROIX POPULATION DATABASE 1734-1917. It's a searchable, virtual archive, currently consisting of 1.83 million biographical entries.   (ENTER HERE)  
 
 
George Tyson, President of VISHA donates a complete set of the
historical database to the Caribbean Collection at the Florence
Williams Pubilc Library through the Territorial Director, Ingrid Bough.
Appointments are necessary to search the database in-house.
